Is the Universe sending you a message?

We look for guidance from “heaven” or from some hidden, realm, seek resolution to the concerns troubling us.

Casting yarrow sticks, consulting the I Ching, has been practiced in the orient for centuries. Ancients consulted the entrails of animals as auguries, and the flights of birds as portents.

Odin’s Runes. The FUTHARK runes, have been used to look for answers in random casts of marked bones or stones. The Tarot cards are also popular for fortune telling.

In consulting oracles that involve randomness, the element of chance lets us step aside so fate or Dame Fortune can play a part. In these M3 Glyphs, you see a modern set of images, easier to relate to than ancient runes or mysterious Tarot cards.

Oracles may be simply tapping into human intuition.

You may find answers coming from within, from mysterious parts of your own psyche.

You may find the interpretations I have given to be helpful, but it is your own responses to these images that are meaningful. Images that speak directly to your mind are like Rorschach tests, in that what you see in them tells you about yourself.

Instant Inspiration for the Modern Mystic

I developed these symbols around the year 2000, thinking of their meanings as more visually direct, for people living in this Third Millenium. I called them M3 Glyphs for short.

About the Glyphs and how to interpret them

The M3 Glyphs are heir to ancient systems of divination such as the Futhark Runes and Tarot cards.

The Futhark Runes have been regarded as magical since prehistoric times. Tarot cards have been in use for hundreds of years also. Both systems of symbols are still used for receiving and guiding insights, for fortune telling, for assisting the mind’s processes in interpreting events and situations. Arcane symbol systems from the remote past, while venerated for their deep traditional roots, can be difficult for modern people to relate to and learn to interpret.

The M3 Glyphs are user-friendly modern symbols that speak to people of the 21st century. (M3 stands for the Third Millennium C.E. which we’re now in.) The M3 Glyphs are intuitively clear to people more familiar with the mysteries of electronics than with the elements of astrology, more threatened by the unpredictability and perversity of Murphy’s Law than the wrath of medieval demons.

The Glyphs speak to us in our own signs, most of them as unknown to the ancients as the Runes are unfathomable to us.

Your familiarity with many of these signs can help you quickly, intuitively grasp their potential meanings when you see them grouped together, but don’t forget to delve deeper in by looking for all the possibilities: these Glyphs are powerful symbols, and they have been chosen for the richness of meaning as well as the strength of their associations.
